Aloha and Welcome to Hawaii

After an eventful morning (I missed the 6:40am flight - won’t tell you who’s fault that was), a 2 hour layover in Minneapolis, and a 7.5 hour flight to Hawaii, we finally made it. Whew! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a Hawaiian guide holding a sign with our names. After welcoming us to Honolulu, fresh leis were placed around our necks. How cute! Then, we were guided towards baggage claim.

Vacation Is Calling

By this time tomorrow night, this is where I’ll be:

The beautiful Waikiki Beach in O’ahu, Hawaii!

Go ahead, you can hate on me. LOL!

But listen…my weekend has been so busy, I haven’t had time to schedule any future posts for you guys. I sawwy. :-( Hopefully, I’ll have lots of shenanigans to share when I return.

Oh wait, I have a good question for you…

If you were in a relationship that wasn’t defined and decided to go on vacation together - how often would YOU offer to share the expenses, if at all?

Aloha!

Money Gossip With Single Ma: My Cousin’s Wedding

Well, well, well…I never thought I’d see the day, but one of my closest cousins has finally crossed over to the dark side. [insert the voice of Shug Avery] She’s married now!! And I am very happy for her. It was a lovely ceremony and reception, despite the typical “Single Ma Family” shenanigans. Trust me, my family will have y’all cracking up for days. Such as:

My cousin’s (the bride) response to the minister when he told her to say “for richer or for poorer” - does that mean my four-hundred and one kays (read: 401k) too? *dead*

My male cousin (aspiring song writer) stalking R&B singer, Lil Mo (the groom’s sister), until she finally agreed to listen to his demo tape during the reception. Any picture she was in, he found a way/reason to be included. Can you say groupie at a family affair? LOL

My aunt’s (a chef) response to the bland food that was meant to accommodate all dietary limitations - fugg dis, I got some Lawry’s and Texas Pete in the trunk of my car! Who want some? *can’t breathe*

…and lots more, but this is the kicker: Read more »

Working Overtime

My office is about to enter its busiest time of the year. Therefore, working more than your typical 9 to 5 is not only necessary, but MANDATORY. So I gave my staff an option to decide how they would like to be compensated for their extra work hours.

OVERTIME (paid time and half for any hour over 40)

or

COMP TIME (after the rush is over, time off for any hour over 40)

The majority vote did not surprise me.  They all said “SHOW ME THE MONEY!” LOL

I don’t have the luxury of either, but if I did, I’d prefer comp time for tax planning purposes.

If given the option, which would you prefer? And why?
