About
About Me: I’m a 30-something single mom with two girls: my teenage daughter (often referred to as BabyGirl) and my Maltese (often referred to as Precious). Financially, our long term goal is to achieve a $1M+ net worth and live the Fabulous Life. For now, we are building the foundation: we own a home, have a comfy emergency fund, 401k, IRA, non-retirement investments, 529 college savings, and no consumer debt - although I love to shop for shoes. But overall, I think we’re making decent progress. Woo wee!
My Financial Qualifications: None. Zero. Zilch. Nada. I am not a financial adviser and I do not play one on the internet. As you read my blog, you’ll see that I spend quite a bit of time educating myself about personal finance by reading finance related books, magazines, blogs and articles. Then I apply my knowledge through saving, investing, managing my credit, advancing my career, and planning for my family’s future.
I also hold an undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate degree (M.B.A.) in Business. Pursuing higher education was a decision that changed my life. Now I crunch numbers all day, handle other people’s money and make time sensitive decisions. But as previously stated, I am NOT a financial adviser. In fact, I don’t work in the financial industry. So that means I am neither licensed nor qualified to give financial advice. Please trust me on that one. LOL
For your reading pleasure, I’ve participated in a few interviews where I have discussed my thoughts about money, as well as my thoughts about women, ethics, and money.
My Goals: I started this blog in December 2005 and established goals for 2006. Throughout the year, I accomplished many things and reviewed my 2006 net worth progress at the end of the year. Then, I established new 2007 goals and achieved the overarching goal a few months early. This year, I upped the ante on the goals for 2008 and even included a to do list. We’ll see what this year has in store.
So what you will find on Fabulous Financials is “the journey of a fabulous single mom pursuing financial independence.” As stated in my disclaimer, this blog is for entertainment purposes only because I am not a financial adviser. What I write is a reflection of my personal opinion, experience and financial choices. I welcome you to join me on this journey, but if you need financial assistance, please consult a licensed financial services professional.
