About

About Me: I’m a 30-something single mom with a lil diva in training (often referred to as BabyGirl). We have the typical parent/child conflicts, but she also makes me very proud. Sometimes I even think I have the best child in the world! She’s my reason for living.

Financially, our long term goal is to achieve a $1M+ net worth. We own our home, have a comfy emergency fund, 401k, Roth IRA, 529 account, and no credit card debt. For your reading pleasure, I’ve participated in a few interviews where I discussed my thoughts about money, as well as my thoughts about women, ethics, and money.

As you read my blog, you’ll find what inspires me (my BabyGirl), what strengthens me (my God), and what keeps me on the move (my Money). I spend quite a bit of time educating myself about personal finance by reading finance related books, blogs and articles then applying my knowledge through saving, investing, managing my credit, and planning for our future. My friends would rather watch paint dry than listen to my latest money rendevous, thus a blog was born.

My Financial Background: None. I have an undergraduate degree (B.S.) and a graduate degree (M.B.A.) in Business Administration. Pursuing higher education was a decision that changed my life. My 9 to 5 requires that I crunch numbers all day, handle other people’s money and make time sensitive decisions. However, I am NOT a financial adviser. In fact, I don’t even work in the financial industry. Don’t hurt yourself thinking about that too long (lol). My point is, I am not licensed or qualified to give financial advice. Even if I were, do you think I’d give it away for free? *wink*

My Goals: I started this blog in December 2005, and shortly thereafter, established these goals for 2006. Throughout the year, I accomplished quite a few things and posted a review of my 2006 net worth progression. The following year, I established new goals for 2007 and provided periodic status updates. The overarching goal was accomplished a few months early, but I continued to challenge myself daily. Recently, I established 2008 goals and an equally important to do list.

So what you will find on Fabulous Financials is “the journey of a fabulous single mom pursuing financial independence.” As stated in my disclaimer, this blog is for entertainment purposes only because I am not a financial adviser. What I write is a reflection of my personal opinion, experience and financial choices. I welcome you to join me on this journey, but if you need financial assistance, please consult a licensed financial services professional.
