What’s In My Purse
Initiated by Well-Heeled via a contest that I missed and further inspired by Fabulously Broke, I’ve decided to share the contents of my suitcase…I mean…my purse.
First of all, the lovely black and white, zebra print, faux fur and leather purse was a birthday present from my BabyGirl a few years ago. This is a perfect winter bag for me because it is so soft, shapeless, and versatile. It’s big enough to hold everything but the kitchen sink and the dual braided handles make it easy to carry on your arm or shoulder.
As for the contents of the bag, let’s see…from left to right:
SO FRESH & SO CLEAN
Hand sanitizer
Suave hand lotion
Rx for Brown Skin facial moisturizer
Dove face cloths
Shout Wipe & Go cloths
Wet Ones hand & face wipes for sensitive skin
Glad sandwich baggy with paper towels and kleenex

COSMETICS
Cosmetic bag – not always in purse – that holds:

- blush – MAC
- eye shadow – MAC
- eye liner
- application brushes
Compact mirror
Lipgloss – MAC Oversexed
Wide tooth comb
Hair tie
Safety pin – miraculously comes in handy
ELECTRONICS
Blackberry and its holding case
Bluetooth
(not seen) Cell Phone – used as camera to take this pic, also an mp3 player
MY LIFELINE

(not seen) AK hard case for glasses
Small notebook – bad memory, need to jot down notes throughout the day
Small calculator – always come in handy
Cross Ballpoint Pen – my favorite pen and gift from Mr. iCandy
Checkbook – rarely used, but I love USAA!
Black leather Etienne Aigner wallet – gift from grandma (RIP) over 10 yrs ago – that holds:
- Driver’s license
- USAA credit card
- American Express credit card
- USAA debit/ATM card
- Health/Dental cards for me and BabyGirl
- Voter registration card
- Car registration – I keep this in my purse instead of my car because I’m paranoid that if someone steals my car, they will know where I live.
- Proof of insurance card
- GEICO roadside assistance card
- Library card
- Money – less than $10 and change, if any
- Receipts
Key chain that holds:
- keys for car, PO Box, house, mama’s house, apartment, and office
- store savings cards
- pics of BabyGirl
- castle key to access security gate at home
- thumb drive
Lanyard that holds:
- work badge
- security card to access building at work after hours
- smart trip card for metro
Small umbrella
Note: I change bags often. Therefore, not all items listed above survive every switcheroo. But you can’t tell me I’m not prepared. If you need something, holla at ya girl! I got you! LOL

Right now, I am carrying a small size purse, so it doesn’t have as much as normal, but here goes:
Purse: Blackberry, ipod, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, facial tissue, work identification card, lip balm, lip gloss, lipstick (hey, I like choice), checkbook, ipod charger, pen, house keys and car keys.
Wallet: AAA card, two credit cards, library card for me and my child, hotel chain frequent guest card, drivers license, medical cards for myself and my child, professional associate membership identification card, (for my job), atm card, $15 cash, 3 supermarket chain discount cards, NYC metro card, movie rental card, receipts for medical and childcare reimbursement.
When I carry a bigger purse, of course, more goes in. With the smaller purse I am now carrying, I limit what I carry to the “essentials.” LOL.

*bows to the clearly superior kitchen sink that Single Ma totes around*
You are ORGANIZED, girl.
I change bags a lot, hence the pouch system.. but at least I know who to call/where to go if I ever need… anything.
Surprised you don’t have a mini tool kit in there for just in case someone breaks a door hinge or something.
Thanks for the link back btw :) Much appreciated.

Wow. Just Wow.
I have totally downsized and my current bag wouldn’t hold a quarter of the stuff you carry. I’m now I’m carrying my wallet, business card holder, at-a-glance datebook, digital camera, phone adapter, comb, keys, small notebook, Borders gift card, tweezers, chapstick, two lipsticks, lip liner, lig gloss, mirror, tampon, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary napkin, letter from my mom.

Bravo! I often see ladies do “what’s in your purse” and most of it is girly stuff. Honestly, my purse is the same… like 1000 lipsticks and lipglosses.
But after seeing your purse’s contents, I’m convinced that I need Shout wipes. Thanks for inspiring me to be more prepared. :) Can’t forget the extra undies!

As a man, I probably shouldn’t admit this but I am completely jealous of the amount of stuff you are able to carry around. I wouldn’t need most of that but I would love to have a place to stash a snack or two for when I am out and don’t want to spend a lot of money. As it is, I am limited to what I can fit in my pants pockets and after putting my wallet in one and my phone in the other… there just isn’t a whole lot of space left.
Now that I am in a steady relationship, the concern about carrying a condom or two around with me is not an issue. But in times past it was because it is not good to have them in a pocket or wallet… and it’s also not good to leave in the car. There just is no “good” place for a man to keep a condom unless he’s sure it’s going to get used very soon.
And the case for my glasses… what the heck am I supposed to do with that thing? It doesn’t fit in my pockets. If I leave it at home or in my car, I can’t take my glasses off during the day. But if I bring it with me… I am left holding and empty case or putting it down and forgetting it.
But most of all… I just want some cheese sticks. :-)

Umm, I feel so unprepared for everything after seeing what’s in your purse. My purse contains the following: comb, hair clamp, phone, eyeglass wipes, peppermints (normally gum but I don’t have any) two containers of carmex, sanitary napkin, lotion, baggie with vitamins and my purse holder.
I usually have my tide to go pen and my hand sanitizer but I left them in my Falcons bag from the game yesterday.

I carry a wallet in the pouch of my daughter’s stroller :) When we’re out for longer I bring her snacks and diaper changing kit in a larger handbag. That’s it! I like all the stuff you carry though, you’re so prepared. I end up just buying stuff as I need it, oftentimes :(

Jeez Single Ma. That purse must weigh 40lbs. How do you ladies carry around that much stuff?

yasss, someone with just as much in her purse as me! i try to keep it well organized bec i’m always switching purses.

2 separate pouches – pouch 1: tampons, panty liners. pouch 2: Rx for Brown Skin botanical brightener (i’ve been liking this better than their moisturizer), rosebud lip salve, sinus meds, band aids, floss, rewetting eye drops,

Wow!
I carry much of the same stuff…but I wear a backpack every day! It is my lifeline, I love it and it doesn’t hurt my shoulders/back like a purse like this would. I walk to/from work 15 min each way, and work on what is basically a University campus, though…I guess I can get away with it.
I think the only thing that you haven’t covered that I carry around is a passport…but I need it for ID, esp. being a foreigner here.
I’d love to see what you’d carry around for a hiking trip– you are so prepared!
Hmmm…I think I shall do a What’s in my backpack? sometime soon, just for comparison. :)

To Kevin: What about carrying a messenger bag? I see a lot of men with them and there would be plenty of room for cheese sticks :)

Single Ma!
MAC is sure making a lot of money from Sistas! I carry the same lip gloss +1 called Lust.
Thanks for sharing

OMIDEARLAWD! There is no way that you carry all that! I am feeling SO non-girly right now. I do not own a purse – not a one. What I carry? My wallet – that’s it. Then I bum anything off of friends that may carry things like you (but rarely otherwise I would make it a staple for me).
