Blogging on Cruise Control
I’m sorry for staying away so long…again. Maintaining this blog has become a chore, so I’ve decided to relieve the pressure on myself and just update whenever the mood strikes me.
Cool? Cool!
Maaan, guess WHAT? My mother AND father sent me a friend request on Facebook. *dead* Then I found out they were friends with each other! *side eye* I was going to quit the whole internet until I learned how to limit what they can see. Sorry mom!
Money, money, money, muuuu-nay!
I spent the last $600 of my FSA on two people: Eye Dr and Dentist. Leeches!
I feel compelled to give more during this holiday season but I don’t want to do anything in vain. I’ve been praying for God to use me however He sees fit.
My finances are boring. Everything is on auto pilot, I’m adjusting to my new forced spending plan, and all is well.
Do you think you earn enough? If not, what is your ideal salary?
My Spawn
BabyGirl went to the Homecoming Dance last weekend. Her outfit? *roll my eyes* Can you say a poofy 60s style dress, fishnet tights, and pink Converse? Yes, my child is special.
We saw Chris Rock’s movie “Good Hair” and now she wants to go au na-tu-ral. *blink* Hmm…we’ll see how long that lasts.
Psst…college apps will be mailed in two weeks. *proud mama grin*
By the way, I need someone to come teach her how to drive! Any volunteers? I only have one reserve nerve left and my car is begging for mercy. My state requires a parent/guardian to drive with their teen for 40 hrs (and certify under penalty of perjury) before they can become licensed. Jesus be a steering wheel!
Who taught you how to drive?
Life Is…
What you make of it. There are many things I could be sad and depressed about. Let me tell ya, I have been going through some thangs! But fugg it, I choose to be happy.
I read a quote that resonated with me because it’s something I could have written myself. “Either you DO or DO NOT, there is no such thing as TRY.” I can dig it!
I look forward to seeing my fam on Thanksgiving, but I heard through the family grapevine (it extends hundreds of miles across state lines) that Ma Dukes said she wasn’t cooking. *no air*
Going to see Michael Jackson’s movie “This Is It” on Sunday. I’m a fan for life!
I am obsessed with the TV show House. I found a website that has an embedded video of every episode. One rainy weekend, I went all the way back to the pilot and watched every one up to the current season 6.
I need clothes, but I don’t feel like shopping. *feeling my forehead for a fever* Yep, something’s definitely wrong!
My birthday SEASON begins in 35 days – yes I’m counting – then it will be all about ME for an entire month. How wonderful is THAT? LOL!
A few of my planned activities include a cooking class, mountain climbing, and wine tasting with 3 separate groups of friends. A full day with just me, myself, and I to reflect on the past year and be pampered. And hopefully, a trip with BG to somewhere that has blue water & white sand.
How did you celebrate your last birthday?
Until next time…Single Ma Out!

Have you read the Fabulous Financials comment policy lately?

Yay, you’re back! I have your blog on my Google Reader to make sure I don’t miss any fabulous tips…BG’s outfit sounds so cute (probably because I’m a youngin’, too).
Now onto important business…..where is this wonderful website with House episodes? I heart him :D

Heck no I don’t earn enough I’m a full-time graduate student! I think my ideal salary would be 50-60K. I hope to be able to earn that when I’m done with school. My parents paid for driving lessons…they didn’t have the patience to teach me. My last birthday I had class until 9pm then I treated myself to dinner. And my mom cooked for me the weekend before. Please keep us updated on bg’s hair adventures. I went natural but now I’m relaxed.

Glad you haven’t totally given up on blogging. I would rather have something from you every once in awhile instead of not at all!!!
Until next time………..

Hmm, I think I earn enough. I’m trying to figure out what enough is – I can pay all my bills, save for the future, tithe regularly and have a nice travel and entertainment budget. Of course, more money would not be a bad thing.
My uncle taught me how to drive. I was 22, really didn’t need a car until then. Prior to that friends had let me drive, but never had any formal teaching. That’s probably why I failed my test the first time.
I didn’t do much for this past birthday. Normally I try to go somewhere but money was tight with the new home. I’d planned to do something every night for a weekend, but my (now) fiance’ had a motorcycle accident that required my nursing skills that weekend.
LOL at your new FB friends.

Haha, I did the same thing when my mom friended me on facebook.
Yea…

Oh, and I should answer the other questions:
My salary is a little low, but its what I expect at this job. I like it.
My dad and Tom of “Toms Driving School” taught me how to drive. I am one of the few women I know who can drive stick.
I celebrated my last birthday with my parents here in Rochester – it’s always a pain right after new years.

I think BabyGirl’s outfit is what all the cool kids are rocking these days – my niece wears nice dresses with fashionable trainers to parties/dances too.
I feel I earn what the market thinks I’m worth at this point – I never pass up reviews to give reasons why I should be earning more though.
It took three people to teach me how to drive:
- My uncle decided I knew enough after five lessons (true story, he said the rest would come with “on-road experience”)
- My dad took over then and we nearly gave each other high blood pressure in the process.
- I was passed over to a qualified driving instructor next. All in all, fun times lol
I went out witha bunch of friends the night before my brithday. The birthday itself was spent with family – I have a thing about only having my nearest and dearest around on the day itself. Sounds like you have a fabulous month planned!

I am loving that quote! “~stealing it and running~ Yeah BG’s outfit sounds like what my niece wanted to wear but my sister gave her “the look.” lol I am so glad that you at least drive by blog. I need to get my fix in! Thank you for sharing!

I’m feeling the same way about blogging … change is a funny thing, yanno?
I spent my birthday at four different wineries. Good times!

LOL, I found out yesterday my mother has both Facebook and Twitter. At least your parents aren’t Tweeting yet.
My stepson is lobbying to get his DL too. I learned to drive on farm equipment so I don’t think I would be helpful.
I share your addiction to House (have all the older seasons on DVD); it is smart tv with a long arcing plotline, well acted, etc.
House is dangerously addicting for someone like me. It’s made me so smart *cough* I’ve been diagnosing everyone I know who complains about a physical symptom. When they ask about the source of my “medical” information, I just say “you better hurry up and see a doctor!” Let me tell it, everybody is about to die! LOL!

Glad u’re back! Of course I don’t think I earn enough…Ideally $70K would be good for now. I’d have enough disposable income to save and live comfortably, but then I would get bored with that and find another way to make more.
I took driver’s ed in junior high and learned a lot. My dad also would take time and let me drive him all over the city. My mom would let me drive her car solo on lil trips to the corner store….
You b-day plans sound great! Last year I threw a huge blowout party and was disappointed at the turnout. So this year, I had a dinner party at a great restaurant and it turned out to be love/tearfest with my fam and friends. We hit the club after…Just a beautiful night

My ideal salary (at least if I was to continue to live in this area) would be around 80K. Unfortunately I make nowhere near that but I’m trying to get there!
As far as driving, I love driving and I love teaching kids to drive. I have taken at least four or five teenagers driving. I’d be happy to take BG girl out for some practice. I don’t scare easily in the car. Besides drivers ed I mainly learned how to drive with my Dad, my Mom wasn’t having any of it!
Glad to see you blogged again! :)

Ah….. a fellow Sagitarius, I figured….sending birthday wishes.
This year home where you are and next year, you must travel to Beijing, China and walk the Great Wall of China!
I don’t think anyone is ever paid enough or earn enough unless you get the opportunity to run your own business.
Cheers,
SS

LMAO… the quote is “Do or do not. There is no try.” and Yoda says it in one of the Star Wars movies. Well, you ARE a Jedi master of Personal Finance.
I learned to drive in Driver’s Ed in high school. Driving with my parents was NOT going to work for any of us.
[Reply]
Ha! I’m glad someone else knew that was a Yoda quote! I was going to leave you the same message in case no one else had. :-)

i miss your blogs…
i don’t think i make enough right now. i do not live in a major metro area, however, i’d like to net about $10k a month. i’d be able to save more, have a couple of kids, employ a nanny part-time, live in a neighborhood i want to live in, in a home with all the amenities i desire, and still be able to shop, dine out often, have summer and winter vacays, and enjoy a couple of ‘entertainment’ outings every month.
but hey, in my real (and current) life, there’s compromise and i’m happy and live a pretty decent life…plus, i’ll get to that salary…someday :)

oh, and in college, my best friend taught me how to drive. yep, didn’t learn or get my license until i was 21! ha!
for my last birthday, went on a cruise and tried out the hilton disney hotel. the hilton was last minute, but i wanted to earn some extra hiltonhonors points and relax poolside at a nice hotel:)

Send Baby Girl on over to Nappturality; we’ll take good care of her and her hair!

Love Yoda! And House…and Lie to Me…and Modern Family…and everything on Thursday night. I’m an entertainment junkie, what can I say? Have a fab birthday month (I must start that tradition in my own home) and I’ll pray for you to survive BG’s driver education.
On a side note, next May Southwest Airlines begins service into Panama City, FL so you’ll be able to enjoy those blue waters and white sandy beaches any time for cheap, cheap, cheap!!

#1 I’m not satisified with my earrings but mainly because it is not a career related job. I guess my ideal earning would be at least $150k..I would be happy with that…I think!
#2 My darling father taught me how to drive at Memorial Stadium ( a football stadium in Baton Rouge). It’s the same place he taught us all how to drive. There was a road that circled the building and plenty of open way in the parking area. He would pretend there was a light or stop sign to work on my stopping ! My sister took me to the mall one night to drive when it was closed of course!
#3 My last birthday I just went out to eat with a few friends and co-worker! But this year I plan to do it big! Yes maam we are going to Vegas! I almost said..I’m going to TRY to go to Vegas! LOL
I love you blog…keep up the good work. Your post are like a drug..gotta have my fabulous financial fix!
Sincerely,
Go

Ha ha I said earrings..lmao..girl see…EARNINGS …where is my damn head tonight?!?!?!

I don’t make anywhere NEAR my target salary (because I am still in school). I think that my target salary is 200k, but it will take me some time to get there, and I will only make about 40-50k during internship and residency (with health insurance benefits and the like, though, so that is good).
My dad taught me to drive in a huge parking lot by the old dog racing tracks in Troutdale, Oregon… (they are long since torn down and turned into a shopping center). I was so scared! Leads me to remember that I was driving along, white-knuckled, thinking that I must be doing 75mph, and looking down and seeing that I hadn’t hit 20mph yet! Ha!
