Sundays With Single Ma 1/18/09

I’ve had a busy week, working long hours, and very little time to blog, read, or comment.  The next few weeks (or months) may be the same because my career is riding on a HUGE deal, so I’m back to the daily grind.  Man, I love my job!  But even when I only have a few minutes to spare, I still find time to check out some of my favorite blogs.  Here’s what caught my attention this week:

California tax refunds on hold [Don't Mess With Taxes]

If the Terminator doesn’t come up with a solid plan soon, he’s going to need his superpowers to prevent a riot.

How I Plan to Create a Better Budget [The Frugal Duchess]

Sistah Ant gives us a step-by-step account of how she found and purchased her 1st home.

Got Debt from Stupid Spending? Suck It Up and Fix It [Stop Buying Crap]

Stop making excuses.  Cap teaches us how to recognize and fix our mistakes.

Money dangers we know — but ignore [MSN Money: Women in Red]

Three common money mistakes and I’ve made at least 2 of them, repeatedly.

I just happened upon The Frugal Duchess right before I stopped here today. This is a great blog.

Wow, non PF fact blew my mind (pun intended). High income women get more oral sex!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????
Anyway, I read that blog and I can not believe that people would actually seriously attack each other over something trivial as this
Thanks for a good laugh , SM , next time I want to stir up a controversy at work this would be a good topic :-)
Just joking, although at this CSS I just started working at, people are more relaxed on many topics

I read the career tips women should ignore. I was with the article until I got to the crying. Hell no! There is no crying in baseball.

I have run up against women who cry like faucets at work. I am not talking about the occasional-behind-closed-doors-personal-conversation-with-a-friend-that-brings-on-a-few tears crying, but work-related crying. Frankly, all I have wanted to do was to shake them, tell them to stop the whining, suck it up and solve their problems. I was once in a meeting with a woman who got an assignment that she clearly had no clue how she was going to complete and she started crying right there in the meeting while saying how the assignment was going to be so hard and she thought someone else should do it. I was appalled, as were the Directors of Accounting and Business Administration, both women. Can you sense that a button was pushed? LOL

*shaking it off now* Anyway, thanks for the articles. They were interesting.

      Hey Single Ma,

      Thanks for the mention.

Good luck with the deal and the crazy work schedule.

      Take Care,
      Sharon (Frugal Duchess)

Thanks Arlice for the kind words!

I’m sorry, but I stopped reading at $30B deal! Wowza, you take all the time you need…how do you deal with that kind of pressure?! Sheesh, they’d better give you a huge raise for pulling that one off (which we ALL know that you WILL).

Thanks for the mention! I agree with nofearingthemoney re: crying at work. And good luck on your deal!
