Hired Help

I’m off today, just lounging around the house and looking a little raggedy.  Think baggy sweat pants, Mr. EC’s sweatshirt, old workout sneakers, and wrap scarf still on my head.  So I go out to walk my dog right.  Not even 10 steps away from my patio door, this lady walks up with the cutest little Yorkie I’ve ever seen.  Immediately, Precious gets REAL excited because she likes to play with little boys.  Typical bitch! LOL!  And of course, I stopped to chat while the dogs played.

Here’s the conversation:

Single Ma: Hi, cute dog you have there.

Old Lady: Thanks.  The one you’re walking is cute too…and energetic!

[Precious jumping around, the little boy trying to sniff her butt]

SM: My little Precious just recovered from an illness so she’s full of energy now.

OL: Oh, I know the owners are relieved.  So how many do you walk a day?

SM: Huh?

OL: How many dogs do you walk a day?

SM: Just mine.

OL: …and how much do you charge?

SM: *face scrunching up* I only walk my own.

OL: *surprised look on her face* Oh…you live here? *pointing at the door*

SM: *losing interest in the conversation real fast* Yeeeeees.

OL: *looking me up and down* Really?

SM: *tilted head with a WTF look*

OL: Oh I’m sorry.  I thought you were their dog walker.

[on cue, Precious finally pees and we walk away]

She better be glad my mama taught me to respect elders.  Hmph!

WTF?? What you don’t ‘look’ like you could live there. Wow.

Haha..tomorrow morning you should knock on that lady’s door, while dressed to the nine’s in your suit & heels and say “NOW do I look like I live here?”

God I hate people who make judgments before they know who they’re talking to!

Ooooh, I would have been so mad, I would have told her that she couldn’t afford my dog-walking. Or something equally passive-aggressive. You should have told her some really low price (what do dogwalkers even get paid - you probably have no idea) and led her on, only to break it to her at the end that you would never walk her dog. I’m so angry at this lady - this is yet another reason why I hate living around pretentious people.

Mmmmm……my mama taught me to respect elders also. But my mama knows just how hard headed I can be.

Lawd, I can think of a few things I would love to say to that lady. Of course I would settle for Precious taking a pee pee on grandma’s shoes. Yes mam!! lol

AH HHAHAHAHAHAHAH - I would have come back with such a snide remark that lady would hate me……..I despise judgemental people. Does she “look” like she lives there?

And just think - during the campaign, they were trying to say that your area isn’t the REAL Virginia. Whatever. Thank you for leaving Brick City in your back pocket on that one.

Wow. Can’t think of much more than that to say on the matter. Shame on her.

I would have told her I charge $100 and half hour! Then hired someone to do it for $25! I’m all about making money off the ignorant! That was very classless of her. smh

Say, do you still qualify as magnanimous if you tilt your head with a WTF look?

Heck yea! My lips were sealed but my mind was gathering a few select words for her ignorance. Shoot, I deserve an Academy award for discipline and restraint! [-SM]

Yes vilkri, I believe you absolutely CAN still qualify as magnanimous if you tilt your head with a WTF look. There is SO much more SingleMa could have said and done. She rose above it by not saying more and THAT in itself was a generous gesture.

OMG…I’m speechless. Good for you for taking the high road. I hope she learned something from your little encounter. Better yet, I am thrilled to heat that Precious is feeling energentic again! Yay!

OMG…I’m speechless. Good for you for taking the high road. I hope she learned something from your little encounter. Magnanimous doesn’t even begin to cover it! Better yet, I am thrilled to hear that Precious is feeling energentic again! Yay!

It’s one thing for her to make the mistake, but then she kept on with it once it had been clearly established that she was WRONG! Looked you up and down??? Old heifer.
