RIP Bernie Mac

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, but it’s always painful when someone you admire or love has passed away too soon. I can’t even begin to explain the sorrow I felt when I read this article. Bernie Mac, one of the Original Kings of Comedy, passed away on Saturday from complications related to pneumonia. He was only 50 years old. *sigh* I loved Bernie Mac, so this makes me really really sad. I mean really sad. My heart hurts for his family.

In my opinion, Bernie Mac is/was the funniest comedian EVER. His approach to comedy was raw, politically UNcorrect (not IN but UN – that’s Bernie for ya), and honest. And I loved-ed it! This was one of my favorite Bernie Mac performances.

Warning: NSFW, profane, and vulgar.

From his body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, made up words (I called them Bernie-isms and Mac-bites), storytelling, punch line, and delivery – he made you double over with laughter until your side hurt…literally. This man could talk about a Saturday morning trip to the grocery store and I’d be in tears after the first sentence. I mean, tears!! He was just THAT funny. Sumamabiatch! LOL!

The entertainment world will not be the same without him.

RIP Bernie Mac. You are missed and I will be a fan forever.

UPDATE: From his sister in law, personal and very emotional details that led to Mr. Mac’s death.

This is so sad. I love watching re-runs of his show…and he was so young also.

I first caught him on his show. LOVED IT and so identified, especially when he broke the fourth wall to speak to “America”. I am very sad for his family.

When I woke up yesterday and saw that he had passed on CNN, I felt like it was an Uncle of mine or something. This is truly sad. He will forever be missed! I agree w/ BK, I will be having a viewing party of Playa’s Club, Guess Who, Kings of Comedy, Oceans 11 and anything else he may have been in.

      RIP Bernie!!!

I feel as if I have lost a personal friend. I spent last night watching clips over and over again. He will definately be missed. I am at peace that he is no longer suffering. As someone who suffers from asthma, that panic and pain one feels when breathing is restrictive is intense. Just knowing that he doesn’t have to endure that any longer makes me smile. He probably somewhere (heaven if you believe in that) telling jokes right now :-)

I dropped what I was holding when my mom told me about this over the weekend. I am still so very sad about it.
