Catching Up

Whenever I go away for an extended period of time, I need a day or two to find my stride and settle back into my regular routine. For some reason, after my previous trip, I still haven’t found it. So I took Monday off to get reorganized, but all I did was sleep.

By Tuesday, the growing issues on the CSS had me in a vice grip. I’ve been working until after 7pm, eating take out, and feeling/looking very UNfabulous. Just to give you an idea – my hair has been pulled back into a ponytail all week, my skin feels dry, the polish on my mani started chipping on Thursday, and the overdue pedi made me avoid open toe/heeled shoes and sandals.

I felt so out of my element, I decided to take Friday off too, which will only cause work issues to pile up again. *shrug* I was hoping to use the day to run errands, go grocery shopping, pick up my dry cleaning, get a facial/mani/pedi/hair done, etc. But guess what I did? SLEEP. *sigh* I don’t feel like myself and I’m exhausted. I don’t know what is wrong with me.

I could have accomplished some of those things today, but I had to do the move out inspection at my rental property. The humid weather combined with what I saw made me tired all over again. Lawdymercy, did the tenants leave it a mess. I mean, a MESS! I’ll have to write a separate post to really explain it. But I spent most of the day with my maintenance guy snapping pictures and documenting the damage, making a Lowe’s run for needed supplies, and planning a schedule for repairs. Even if I’m not the one doing work, just the idea of cash leaving my hands with no immediate return is painful enough.

As for my spending challenge, I have NOT exceeded my $300 shopping limit for the month. Actually, I haven’t been leisure shopping since I wrote that post. No matter how bad you guys may want me to spend (lol @ Nordrom’s annual sale), I seriously need to put the brakes on swiping plastic. I have too many upcoming expenses to be playing around in a mall. Besides, BabyGirl’s birthday already set me back. Now this rental property is going to bend me over.

So all of you who want me to overspend so I can give away $50, nice try. LOL If you’ve read my blog for more than a day, you should know by now that I’m motivated by opposition. You guys fell right into my trap. Thanks! ;-)

Now I’m off to catch a nap…

Doesn’t Lowe’s count as shopping?? For business purposes? Uh, no ma’am![-SM] From the sounds of it you could easily drop over 300 there ??
      Glad your back

What is CSS? I had to give up my rental property 3 years ago, after 15 yrs.
People have no respect for other people’s property anymore. And it seems to me to be truer for younger renters they seem to think the rent is to high so they live like slobs.

I guess your former tenants won’t be getting back their security deposit! I agree with Cheryl, people have no respect for other people’s property. Both of my former tenants were awful. I, too, am contemplating selling my rental. I rented for three years in 3 different apartment communities and each time I left my apartments in immaculent condition so I could get my security deposit back.

You didn’t mention their security deposit or what the arrangements were for them to receive it back, but it sounds like they won’t be getting most or some of it back, so that should be some consolation in your upcoming expenses.

I’ve been back from last weekend’s trip for 6 days and between work and catching up on sleep, I JUST got around to unpacking, so I think I know how you feel. Here’s to a more energetic and productive week ahead!

If nothing else, reading your post (and I am grateful to you for making it such a detailed one) made me feel better about my situation. I’m also a renter and a homeowner simultaneously. My renters are leaving Aug. 8 and I’ll be doing the move out inspection shortly thereafter. I’m already sick to my stomach with the painting costs and locksmith costs and whatever else, plus every day I don’t have a rent check coming in but… I’ll deal. Tell me how you make a post about holes in the walls and little bugs and rotting food encouraging? Because you do!
