just roll some HR heads. when i was in college and working at a golf resort in the kitchen...HR gave my check to the person who was alphabetically after me in the same envelope as their check. He signed both and cashed them without looking at them. We were friends. When I went to them to say I didn't get my check as I didn't know yet what happened...they thought we concocted the whole thing so I could get ANOTHER check. ummmm, hello?....not that stupid????

Are all those things granted to you at day one? I know a lot of jobs you have to wait 30 days for benefits, and in certain cases, 401(k) and FSA can't be contributed to until January 1 of the following year. Also, maybe in some cases (it's like this at my job), just because you sign up for some benefit, it takes a month for the money to actually be taken out of your pay! It's like that for my E-Trac transportation - sure I can sign up for it in May, but the money won't be taken out until June - which means I really can't use the card until July! So for at least two months, I have to pay $300+ for two months of train passes out of my own pocket! Ugh! Also I think they just upped the price of a monthly pass.....ughhhhhhhhhh!

That's too bad. My bennies are effective day 1. [-SM]

Sounds like you made some enemies in HR & Payroll when you got first hired. You should have faxed in your Social Security Card.

I know, right. LOL [-SM]

One good way of looking at it is this..at least you aren't in a position where you are dependent on getting your check to live !

my new job messed up my first paycheck this past week too and now im strapped till they figure it out .. makes me really think about the fact that i'm living paycheck to paycheck cause had it not been for my stimulus check a sista would be broke right now !

lol ..just giving a different point of view ..

Steph

Oh dear, I wish it were that simple. I may have money in different accounts (which are off limits), but I'm still strapped for cash flow. No matter how you slice it, a missed paycheck is a MAJOR inconvenience. In addition, the MISSED benefits contributions and extra TAXES I've paid as a result, this screw up is a ROYAL pain in my azz.
