A Fabulous Financial Reader is Now Debt Free

A big hearty CONGRATS to one of my long time readers – Chris – for paying off nearly $25,000 worth of debt in one year! WOOO HOOOO!! A few weeks ago, I received the following email with DEBT FREE in the subject line:

I did it!!! When the last $1000 clears tonight I am debt free!!!

WOO HOO!!!!!! I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, all the money is MINE!!!!!! HA HA HA

God it feels good! :D

Thank you for being my support! It really helped! :-D

He was also the #1 winner of my debt payoff incentive. As the prize, he chose me to be his personal coach for 3 months. I don’t know what he was thinking, but somehow, he still did it!! LOL I love receiving Chris’ email updates and I look forward to reading about his plans for the future.

Oh yea, and my girl – Debt Hater – is also rounding the bend. She plans to be debt free on 7 May 2008. You know I’m rooting for you girl!! Celebratory dinner and drinks are on me!!

If you have debt, let’s think of new strategies to reduce your debt!

If you need motivation, reward yourself after every $1,000 milestone.

If you get discouraged, take baby steps but don’t quit.

If you need a little inspiration, hollatchagirl!

Congrats again, Chris!!! Enjoy your vacation!! You deserve it!

Hi Single Ma. I’ve been a subscriber to your Blog but just try to incorporate your tips without writing. Well reading todays post where you offered inspiration to anyone who needs it, I thought that if you’re willing, I need encouragement. I am 27 years old, the only thing that I own is my car. I rent and apt and I have student loans and medical bills attached to my ankles like anchors. Often times I feel like I should just do like my sister and declare bankruptcy. I have tried several times to clean up my bills and credit myself but it just seems like my income is never enough. I read tips like cut out getting your hair and nails done and any added extras. I have stopped getting my nails done. Far as hair, that is one talent that I lack and it looks a mess whenever I attempt it. I work in a business office so I can’t come in here looking like who-done-it! I’m not sure what I’m looking to hear, just feeling really frustrated with my finances right about now. Thanks for taking the time out to read this.

Hi Single Ma, I am a long time reader and inconsistent poster. I am encouraged by your blog daily and by the folks who are DEBT FREE!! I co-sign on Dave Ramsey’s program, so I started there with my own swing to it. Had always done a budget, but living by is a the trick. Got $1,000 in the bank and now I’m doing a debt snowball. For a while I just refused to touch my savings (it was over $1k because I had rented out a spare room, earning more and got a bonus). I finally said – quit playing and do the damn thing! In 5 months I’ve paid off a $2600 card with 24% INTEREST. Took $1k from the savings (still had $1k+ left), took $600 from bonus, took $400 from tax returns and now I have about $600 left. Booyaa – my stimulus refund was just direct deposited yesterday. I can wipe out that card FOREVER. I also have done what’s called a “Treasure Map”. It’s a visualization technique to imagine what you want to manifest in your life. I listed some personal things, but primarily the elimination of my debts in order of payoff. I can cross off this card! I have 3 other small balances, then onto two hefty ones and then finally my Student Loan and mortgage. That’s right – paying off the dang mortgage. KEEP THE FAITH!

Thank you SingleMa and everyone for the kind words :)

To everyone who is still on the debt journey all I can say is just keep at it. There is a ton of great advice on this blog and others like it on how to get debt free.

Besides the relief of the STRESS of being in debt brings, And with the economy being what it is now, not having to pay off credit cards is such a huge relief. All that money that used to go to the credit cards I am now saving.

And yes, IT FEELS GREAT! :D

Thank you again SingleMa for getting me serious with that competition. I hope you make it into an annual event? ;)
