I Finally Did It!!
I quit today! Whew, what a relief!
When I told my boss, she thought it was an early April Fool’s joke. Umm, not! When she finally realized I wasn’t playing, she excused herself and left me sitting in her office. After about 5 minutes, she didn’t return so I had to leave. I thought she would come find me when she was ready to discuss, but that was wishful thinking. Then I had to leave for the day because BabyGirl had a doctor’s appointment.
You would think we were in a romantic relationship or something because now I’m getting the silent treatment. *sigh*
This is going to be a long month…

I won’t even go there. I just don’t blog about most of the crap. [-SM]
First, congratulations! Second, your soon-to-be ex-boss needs to grow up…surprised or no. Jeez.
Your boss needs to be mature and professional about the situation. She is acting like someone who just got dumped by their significant other with no rhyme or reason, because the relationship was absolutely great.
One day, I might share all the details that led up to my decision to leave. This reaction was nothing. I actually prefer it better.
A few of my friends/readers know the history, so they won’t be surprised at all.
What I’m REALLY waiting for is the call from HER boss. I’m not a tattle tell though, so I’ll let her do damage control and wait patiently for shyt to hit the fan. LOL [-SM]

Way to go single ma! and yeah i agree, unprofessional…the word of the day lol. geez, i hope my supervisor doesn’t pull the same act when i give my notice >_<.
That just proves that it’s the right choice for you to quit. I’m still thinking to myself ‘left her in the office and didn’t come back?’ because who does that? Well, unless they’re getting security! lol

When I resigned at my last job my boss went out of her way to ignore me my last two weeks. No good bye when I finally left…nothing.
Congrats. I’ve been thinking of leaving my job and have actually been searching. Every time i tell my boss that I need to talk to her she says “Please tell me your not leaving”. I mean EVERY TIME, It’s gotten to the point that I just start talking instead of asking if she has time.
Congratulations! I just got out from under a gawd-awful boss and it’s such a relief to be in a new role.
My last two weeks were much like Clu’s above – it was like I didn’t exist after I said “I quit.”

Oh my Lord, I think our bosses are related. There’s some crazy unprofessional drama like that going on over here too, and I was just thinking about possible exit plans in case of emergency…. I think my boss might react the same way yours did!

Wow! Is this a female boss thing? I’ve only worked for men and each time I’ve resigned from a company it’s been fairly smooth. However, I have friends that have experienced this type of treatment but only from female bosses. I’ve had employees present their letter of resignation to me but most times I saw it coming because I’ve always had very open communication lines with my employees. I’m the type of supervisor that will tell an employee of a great job opening if I thought it would be better for their career – if I didn’t see room for advancement at our current company (unless I left).
I agree with the earlier commenter – she needed to attend the professional woman classes
