Go to your Options --&#62; General (defauly) section in Wordpress. Scroll down to: Membership: 	 Anyone can register Users must be registered and logged in to comment

Make sure neither is clicked.

Then remove the "Admin" or "Meta" widget from your sidebar (bottom right). I don't know why site designers leave it there... :-/

It only makes sense on big blogs like Lifehacker or Consumerist to weed out spam or on small ones where the person has been getting a lot of nasty comments.
