It’s Not All in My Head

I’ve been out of the office since Thursday, March 13th, and I’ve had a wonderful week. It felt great being a Lady of Leisure – sleeping ’til noon, reading, cooking, shopping, spending time with my BabyGirl and fam, running errands and browsing through Target for half the day, doing a little spring cleaning around the house, getting manis and pedis (missed the massage and facial), and going to the hair salon at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Doing whatever I wanted when I wanted. The weather was beautiful, my mind and body was in chill mode, and life was grand.

Now, here it is Sunday night and I feel like my world has gone from sugar to shyt. Just the thought of returning to that office tomorrow makes my stomach turn somersaults. I wish I could say it was all in my head, but it isn’t. Aunt Flow decided to stop by around 9pm, I’m cramping and I can’t sleep, my left eye is red and I have no idea why, and my right knee is aching although I bumped it 3 days ago and haven’t felt a thing until 2 hours ago. Hmm…

Ok, maybe some of it is in my head, but this is what I said I would never do. I will never allow a job to steal my joy so much that it affects my mental and physical well-being. Hellz to the no!

So check it…

While I was on vacay, I received a formal ‘tentative’ offer from job #1 (HR wants 10 yrs of my background plus DNA samples from my unborn child – sheesh), still waiting on the “it’s in the mail” response from job #2. Neither is confirmed, but I’m resigning in the morning.

It’s time for me to put that F.U. fund to good use.

Take a week vacation, then quit when I return. Ha! One of my friends said that was gangsta. Whatev. I’ve already decided, April 25th will be my last day. Maybe sooner if this one particular person goes on another emotional rampage, like I expect, after receiving my resignation and decides to fire me. That will be ok too. Then I can file for unemployment. LOL

Just kidding! Ok, only a little…

If for whatever reason, things go haywire with these two opportunities, I have enough in my e-fund to cover us until I find another job. Shoot, I might even be a Lady of Leisure for a few months. Who knows? Life is too short, and I’m waaay too fabulous, to be stressed with BS.

I ain’t mad atcha. You have savings, you’ve got prospects. And you’re right. You’re supPOSED to be enjoying the ride, not dreading it. Be blessed.

Wish I could be a fly on the office wall today. Think the next month going into work will go by easier knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel !!

Do what must be done. It always better to leave on your own terms and the beauty of the FU Fund is the freedom to do so. Some things are just not worth it, (which is why my FUF is as stocked as my pantry).LOL

I KNEW I had to leave one job when I started having resignation fantasies complete with dialog and theme music!

      Bravo!

Life IS too short. I’m not as gangsta as you so instead of resigning, I’ve just decided to change my attitude. Not toward the job but toward the rest of my life. Everything in it is more important than I do between 8:00 and 5:00.

I’d wish you luck, but I know you don’t need it.

That bad, huh? Good luck with the resignation and however long a period of leisure you decide to enjoy!

Did Aunt Flow visit everyone this weekend?

Good for you – that’s what a FU fund is for. I quit my job without an FU fund, and even though it was initially nervewracking, I loved that feeling of ’see ya!’ when I left. Hmmm, think of the fun I could have had if I’d had a fund, too …

No job is worth it – enjoy your time!

I feel you! And this is just why having your finances in order is so important — it allows you the FREEDOM to take care of your own well being. Job killing you? QUIT! Not work and work even though you’re losing your mind. I applaud you and I ain’t worried about you — you’ll get snatched up quick (but you knew that already)!

Good for you! You’re absolutely right – life is too short to put up with a job that makes you physically ill.

Can’t wait to hear how it went…

Excellent move to have the FU fund! :)

Sometimes vacation helps us see things more clearly….
