Valentine’s Day Update
After reading my emails, I see many of you are wondering how my Valentine’s Day turned out. I wish I had some elaborate story to tell, but I don’t. Mr. Eye Candy did try to do a little something, but his plans were ruined by – not one, but – TWO personal emergencies.
He attempted to send me on a scavenger hunt, but after the 2nd hint, I realized that I had a flat tire (didn’t I just say I needed new tires the other day?) AND one of my friends was in a car accident. So my day was really crappy without me even trying. So no flowers for me – don’t like ‘em for V-day anyway – no candies, no fancy dinner. Just a really sweet guy who came to my rescue to change a tire and later accompanied me to the hospital to visit an injured friend. The rest of the evening was without fanfare.
But — I did get a beautiful card* from BabyGirl. This is what it said:
[front]
Mama
from you I learned that strong
doesn’t have to mean hard,
that truth isn’t the same as blunt.
Watching you,
I learned that giving
doesn’t mean you get taken
and love is more powerful
than passion…
[inside left]
Through your example,
I discovered that true queens
don’t need kings
but there’s not
a damn (yes, on a card. LOL -SM) thing wrong
with wanting them.
And because of you,
I believe in
making my dreams a reality
even as I wish
my reality was just a dream.
[inside right]
Your example has become my strength,
your wisdom, my inspiration,
your love, my life force.
Thank You,
Mama
Happy Valentine’s Day
Me lub being a mama!

wow mr. eye candy is scoring some major points it seems! good for you! and what a sweet card from BG!!
yes, i think mr. eye candy’s actions spoke much louder than a fancy dinner ever could speak. do keep us posted, please:)
btw, i love babygirl’s card! for a minute, i thought she was the original author! i was about to saaaay….
That’s why I love it!! She took the time to find something so perfect for US. It speaks volumes about what I mean to her. Inside, she also inserted a hand written note that was even more personal. It moved me to tears. Mr. EC called me a water bucket. LOL [-SM]
that card was wow.. go head BG
What a wonderful card! Thanks for sharing that today cuz I needed it! I want my daughter and I to have that type of relationship…I think we already do. Amazing to find it expressed in a card like that! I wonder who wrote that? Must be a helluva mom who did!!
What a wonderful gift, both the card and the daughter.
PS And the man ain’t half bad either…hmmm…wonder if he has the makings of a Dr. Feelgood:–)
Awwww. It is lil things like this that makes all your struggles and challenges over the years so worth it.
My baby drew me a mermaid with a heart around it (she is into Ariel at the moment) on a lil card and handed it to me when I picked her up from school yesterday. Just that lil gesture was enough to wash away the craziness that was this week.
Me lub being a mama too. :-)
That card is soooo sweet. I hope one day to have that kind of a relationship with my future daughter.
Kudooss to Mr EC.
Chile, why Baby Girl making me all teary eyed? That was the most beautiful card ever. I don’t think anybody could have toped that, and I’m sure you didn’t want them too.
