7.00% APY Certificate of Deposit

CD @ 7% APY

Just a friendly reminder…

For those who live in the DC/MD/VA metro area, the State Department Federal Credit Union is offering its Lucky 7s CD:

  • 7-month
  • 7.00% APY
  • $7,000 min/max
  • February 7th (today) only

There are membership restrictions, but if you qualify, call 800.296.8882 to open your account.

Because of this new found love, I officially broke up with HSBC today. It was hard to say goodbye, but now that $12,000 of my emergency fund will be earning between 4.84% and 7% APY for the next 15 months, I can dry my tears with interest payments. LOL

Wow! you are good. What are the chances that someone can earn 7% on their money on a CD

You are a bargain hunter! for real

Hmm…I never seemed to work CD’s into my savings strategy, preferring to stick with high yield savings accounts…but as a resident of the DC Maryland suburbs, 7% is pretty good!

I love it!!! I’m a member.. problem is this promotion is only for NEW MONEY/NEW MEMBERS.. LOL but the benefits of being a former employee pay off :) LOL I don’t have 12K but my 700 will grow pretty fast LOL

I can’t thank you enough. I don’t remember how I came across your site, but I’m very glad I did. I read about this promotion on the sixth. I was like, “I gotta get 7G together and quick.” I’m now a member of SDFCU and am thinking about consolidating some online savings accounts. a.k.a ditching FNBO, ING, HSBC, IGB. Well, I might keep IGB as a backup for CountryWide. So many promotions, so litte time.

Just wanted to let you know I love your site! But anyway I know the answer to this question but I am going to ask anyway–is there ever an end to debt? Right now I am looking for a full time job and it gets depressing when I can’t find what I am looking for. I am an attorney and the only jobs that I am qualified for will make me unhappy–meaning when I went to law school I knew I didn’t want to do criminal law. Thanks for listening.

But why a CD? What kind of penalties are there for tapping into that prematurely?
