Free Advice From a Licensed Financial Planner
From Kiplinger…
On Friday, January 25, Kiplinger.com is hosting a live discussion with members of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) for Kiplinger’s Jump-Start Your Retirement Plan Days. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. eastern time, these fee-only planners, who are well versed in investments, taxes, insurance, estate planning, and saving for college and retirement, will take questions. The NAPFA planners will answer as many questions as time permits.

Well, I tried to submit a question but it didn’t like it.
I can only imagine what your question would have been. LOL
When I clicked to submit the question, it said “Invalid question” and something about having a spam filter in place, and there was an email address to click if I really wanted to ask a question…BUT the original question was not retained, so I would have had to type in the question again, so I didn’t bother.
Question: I have no retirement plan or other assets, and expect retirement will never be an option for me, as I have an expensive chronic medical condition and Social Security will not provide enough income to live on. (My Social Security income will be consumed dully by health insurance – Medicare B and D plus supplemental – and rent.) Since I also understand the actuarial reality that I will probably become unable to work at some point, I expect to reach a point where Social Security is inadequate but I can no longer work to supplement it. What happens to people like me when they can no longer work and no longer have enough income to live on? I assume there is a body of historical evidence to indicares what happens to people like me; I’d like a better idea of what to expect.
I will be one of those NAPFA advisors dolling out advice on Friday. I hope your readers call in! If they have problems, like Minimum Wage, let me know.
