Fab Deals: Grocery Delivery Service

I’m always on the lookout for a good deal and it’s about time I share the goodies with my readers. We’ll call these posts “Fab Deals.” Here’s the 1st one for 2008.

If you’re anything like me and too lazy (or busy) to make a grocery run, then order them online. Well, everything except produce and meat. I have to see those for myself. I just did it for the first time today and found it to be real easy and convenient. It also helped to curb those impulsive purchases that wouldn’t have been on my list. The only downside (IMO) is that most grocers charge a delivery fee – no surprise there. But the good news is, you can find coupon codes to cover the fee, and then some.

For Giant Peapod customer, the delivery fee ranges from $6.95 to $9.95, depending on your total grocery bill. I found these coupon codes on RetailMeNot.

Are there also Small, Medium, and Large Peapods?

That is great to know. I keep coming back to your blog and jotting down all your good ideas to help me budget. Where were you 6 months ago?

Safeway.com is constantly sending me free delivery emails/postcards. Grocery delivery is very handy when you live in the city. But I agree that meat needs to be hand-picked and brought straight home. And that’s something I get at Whole Foods anyway. Now I just don’t have to go to 2 different grocery stores (Giant or Safeway and Whole Foods).

You might also try DealTaker.com for online savings and coupons.

I’ve been thinking about the grocery delivery think lately myself because going shopping here seems to be a much bigger hastle than it was when I was living in the burbs down south. I may talk to my guy about it and give it a shot for a months, maybe starting in February. I hope it works out financially because I KNOW it would save me so much time…
