Life is Good
I have so much to be thankful for and so much to celebrate.
Now that I’m out of debt, I’ve officially jumped started the next phase of my journey to financial freedom. I changed my 401k and IRA allotments from a percentage to an exact $ amount. This is to ensure maximum contributions (or avoid going over) for 2008: $15,500 401k and $5,000 IRA, both divided over 26 pay periods. Now to educate myself on non-retirement investment options.
We closed the deal today. To be exact, 5:49 pm was the monumental moment. Due to the unrealistic deadline, people questioned if we could do it. Perhaps, they had doubts about MY ability to make it happen. Who knows. I’m slowly but surely building a reputation for myself at the new gig. Sometimes non-believers have to see it for themselves. The team celebrated by popping a bottle of the bubbly. They’re such a funny group of people and I think they’re starting to like me. :-) When my supervisor noticed I wasn’t drinking anything, she remembered I didn’t care for champagne and sent someone to get a bottle of wine just for me. :-) That makes the 3rd bottle in the past few weeks. LOL
A Division Head from one of the job offers I turned down called me today. I missed his call but he left a message. He wants to discuss my reasons for declining the offer and future plans for my career. I listened to the message while in the car and it left me speechless. Just to make sure I heard him correctly, I listened to it again when I arrived home. Wow.
And the most amazing event of the day. Mr. Eye Candy officially asked me out.
Aaaaaaah. Life can’t get any better than this.

OMG you have to post about Mr. Eye Candy and your first date! too cute!
Thank you again for being an inspiration. Closing deals, job offers and a cutie!
I’m making some moves so that my blog can show similar progress in 2009-2010. However, law school loans are no joke!

SM – congrats on everything! And by the way, I’m still with my own Mr. Eye Candy 15 years after he asked me out … enjoy the ride!
i’m thrilled for you! how exciting. congratulations on all fronts, and please keep us posted!!!
Yay!
Congratulations!
Today is just a day that you are noticing that life is good because so many things are coming together at once. Even sucky days are better than no days, right?
But today you know you have made it happen, the good is what you’ve accomplished. The more you pay attention to all that, the more happy days you get. Trust me.
Some of my best memories are of times when things were absolutely impossibly difficult, and the good was in getting through them whole and dragging my kid through with me. Proud and happy? That’s you!

Congratulations on progress on the financial, career and lovelife fronts. A triple good day! Wow. Enjoy.
does this mean Baby Girl doesn’t have to worry about momdating VP. Congrats on everything !!!
You go girl, you have it all together!
Just a small note. You can’t over-contribute the the 401(k), even if you sign up to. Your plan will just stop contributing, as required by the IRS.
@ anon 10:09 – Nah, mom isn’t interested in VP at all. Considering the fact that I know he looks out for her, I don’t intend to burn any bridges though. LOL
@ anon 10:53 – What I mean by “avoid going over” is I don’t want to max out too soon and lose the benefits of my employer’s match. If/when my salary changes over the next year, maxing out too soon is very likely if I contribute the max based on a %. By contributing an exact dollar amount that’s spread equally over 26 pay periods, I’ll be sure to get my employer’s max for the entire year. Otherwise, if I max out early, I’ll lose it.
With regards to the IRA, you can’t really over contribute there either. You can always pull it back later. So the intent of my plan is to avoid both scenarios. Perhaps “avoid going over” was the wrong descriptive phrase.
You deserve it all… from financial success to true love. You go girl.
Sounds like things have been divinely ordered for you :-) GOD IS GOOD!!! Smile and enjoy, lady… you deserve it.
i am just so happy for you – this all sounds like a wonderful string of pearls, one after another!
As my niece used to say, sounds like you’re getting to the “GOODEST” part!
