That sucks !! To me seems like a “perfectly” good way to end an AWESOME year. Not really!! I know you will handle this the way you have handle everything else that has been thrown at you this year. You will do OK

OMG, you just got those renters!! Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad never says it, but good renters are HARD to find. That is why I would ask for 1.5 or 2 months deposit.

is it because they got new orders OR are they breaking their lease for other reasons??? did you build a penalty outside of them getting new relocation orders???

      Muthahunchies.. damn

i hope they gave you ample notice, and that it doesn’t take too much of your time to get the place cleaned and rented out again.

My previous rentors informed me they were breaking the lease 1 month before my wedding. I told them to hand me the keys after my wedding but they insisted that they needed to move out earlier – 1 week BEFORE the wedding. I had 1 day to clean the place before the new people moved in. That was miserable.

      Hang in there.

I got the impression that they might be military, which gives them a lot more flexibility to break their leases. Good for Uncle Sam, not so good for you.

Otherwise, make use of that deposit! That’s what it’s there for.

I hope you find some good new tenants very soon.

They’re a military family. No, the active duty person does not have orders. Personal issues I can’t disclose. I’m currently working on an amicable solution for all.

[...] They paid the rent on time and I was a happy landlord. That is, until 5 months later when they threatened to break their lease…right in the middle of the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday [...]
