MY Christmas Wish List

I made a shopping list and checked it twice, but it wouldn’t be right if I neglected my own needs obsession with brand new, shiny things. Well, at least that’s what I keep telling myself. At some point during a retail therapy session, I’m usually drawn to something that speaks to me.

It’s a magnetic force that whispers in a deep dark voice, “Single Ma, you must buy me or your life will never be the same.” HA HA I haven’t been officially diagnosed yet. LOL But they say you should always listen to your conscience, so who am I to disagree? :-)

  1. First up on MY Christmas Wish List: Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS

  2. I sent a link of this fab deal to my uncle. K-mart will have it on sale for $129.99 on Thanksgiving Day (reg. price $249). He said “cool, I’m going to get one for myself and [insert name of his girlfriend].” Confused look on my face “…but what about me?” Then he goes, “Oh you do have a birthday coming up, don’t you?” Bingo!! :-)

  3. Second on MY list: 4pc Luggage Set
  4. Bright colors on wheels! Wheeeeeeeeeee!! Macy’s has it on sale for $99.99 (reg. price $200) but I’m sure the deals will get better and better. The reviews on this particular brand made me change my mind, but I want something exactly like it: 16″ multipurpose tote, 21″ expandable carry-on, 26″ expandable vertical rolling case and 29″ expandable super rolling case. Five-year warranty. Eventually I’ll find a coupon code with an extra % off the sales price plus an additional discount if I use my Macy’s card. Once the price is ~$60, that baby will be mine!

  5. …and finally on MY list: A warm and fabulous, flattering fit winter coat.

  6. This is the closest visual to describe what I’m looking for, but I don’t really like this one. If you’re interested, it’s on sale at Macy’s for $215 (reg. price $290). I haven’t found anything similar to what I want yet, but when I do, I’m willing to pay top dollar for it. I’m so serious, it doesn’t even have to be on sale. It must: a) flatter my body shape, b) neutral color for everyday wear, c) appropriate for the office and weekend attire, and d) quality that will last for years and years to come.

Any recommendations on #2 and #3 are greatly appreciated!

As women, we often put the needs of others before our own. This year, when you’re shopping for everyone on your list, don’t forget about the most important person…YOU.

Have a fab Sunday!

My Christmas shopping policy is that the 1st gift I buy is something for me…and so is the last gift (that one’s my Bday gift). Not sure what I’m treating myself to this year or what’s on my list. *sigh*

      Single Ma,

Try E-bags for the red luggage. I got a 4-piece Red (hard-side)luggage set for $100.00.

It is fantastic and will last for many years.

I guess you don’t do much traveling, but if you plan on doing some in the future, do NOT cheap out on your big luggage pieces. I think the worst experience of my life was my cheap, huge suitcase splitting open on the Hong Kong baggage claim. Believe me, you do not need that.

Just go to TJMaxx and get one larger, more expensive suitcase to check. They sometimes have really, really nice ones, and they always have last year’s department store ones for less than $200. You can use that cheap stuff for the smaller bags or for less intensive travel. :)

I’ll second the suggestion of TJMaxx as a great source of quality luggage that’s been marked way down. Often, it tends to be the brightly colored stuff that ends up on sale there; I guess most people prefer black or navy to red or bright turquoise.

I’m so bad at shopping for others! I think I have great taste, so I end up buying people things that I’d want for myself. I get so torn about giving the gifts that sometimes I keep them, or buy an extra one. This year, I’m going to work on that. I’m not going to get myself anything — unless it’s a deal that just can’t be passed up — and focus solely on giving.
