I Must Be Losing My Touch

What it do blogger fam?! I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. As for moi? It didn’t quite compare to last year’s shenanigans with my father’s side of the family (I swear, most of them are adopted lol), but it was nice to see the other half of the clan – most of which I hadn’t seen all year.

Dinner was fabulous, many of the desserts still have my mouth watering, and my fave cousin and I are still the reigning champs of the “R Family’s T-day Spades” marathon. It brings me great pleasure to put the smack down on unsuspecting fools! They talk mad ish in the beginning, get quiet after the 2nd set, then claim “cheating” when you run a boston. Ha! It’s one of my reasons for living. :-)

On the financial front, I did ok. I planned a conservative estimate of ~$800, but my total expenses for the weekend were only $376.32. Shocked? Yea, me too! I was ready to do some serious damage, but the fabulous deals just weren’t calling my name. Nothing really spoke to me. You know the voice, “Single Ma, you would look fabulous in this. BUY ME NOW!” LOL I heard it once, but it was only a whisper. Here’s a breakdown of the minimal damage:

Gas: $70.61

After gassing up twice, my trusty sidekick took me round trip (over 500 miles) and in/around for four days. Not bad. Not bad at all. She’ll probably run 2-3 more days before needing another refill.

Gifts: $102.61

No break of dawn Black Friday shopping for me. No siree! But I did venture into a few stores later in the day. Staying true to my Christmas list and budget, I bought several things for BabyGirl pending results of her interim report on December 19th, a Bratz doll for one of my babies, and tried to fulfill an odd request from my crazy lil’ brother. He said all he wants for Christmas is a p.imp robe. WTF! I’m afraid to ask for an explanation. *smh*

Shopping: $105.10

What’s a weekend of shopping without buying something for yourself? Although I didn’t find anything on my wish list, I bought FOUR (4) new suits from Ross. Y’all know how much I love that store! *sigh* I could live there. I also had to replenish my favorite M.A.C. lip glass – oversexed. It’s like my American Express, never leave home without it.

Entertainment: $38.50

I treated some of the fam to a matinée on Friday afternoon. We went to see “This Christmas.” Typical storyline – family drama – but it made me laugh. Ms. Regina King redefined the term BEAT DOWN! LOL! It was a decent holiday movie. I’d give it 3.5 out of 5 stars and may even consider buying it on DVD.

Dining Out: $59.50

With all of the T-day fixings, I didn’t have to do much dining out. However, there’s only so much turkey and stuffing a sista can eat. After day 2, I was craving something different, but it wasn’t until day 3 that my wish was finally granted. I had the pleasure of dining at PF Changs with another fabulous blogger, Ms. Serenity23. This chic is truly fabulous and funny as hellz. I had a great time! LOL

After a shopping “intermission,” we ended the night with drinks and dessert at Ruby Tuesday. Although I was looking forward to having a wine flight with their chocolate tall cake, the margarita flight was a nice substitute.

Fabulous Financial Tip: use the code at the top of your receipt to complete their survey and they’ll give you a promotion code to save $4 on your next visit.

I called it a shopping “intermission” because I was on the hunt for a winter coat and red pumps – but found nothing. I mean absolutely NAYTHAN! I actually wanted to spend money but couldn’t. Can you believe that? I was seriously disappointed…and jealous. Here’s why. You see those shoes? *dead*

I must be losing my touch.

I had a great time! And it might have been a good thing that we didn’t get to have those wine flights b/c who knows how many I would have had to get in order to talk “behind the S23 blog” stories.. LOL! Hope you find those shoes.. But just remember tomorrow when you’re picking shoes for work that S23 already has her Monday shoes picked out.. LOL! See ya chick!

I skipped the early morning madness too. I’ve heard so many people say nothing was calling to them this year. Oh well. There’s always Cyber-Monday. Glad ya had a good time!

I love reading your blog. It really inspires me and shows me how to have a wonderful time and under budget.

I can’t remember what blog led me to yours but, I do remember that it said that the way you described a trip to WalMart was amazing.

      Thanks for the inspiration,

      Frugaljd
