Today is My Last Day

…and I’m sad.

I’ve given this organization 5 1/2 years of my life.

I’ve met so many wonderful people…friends and colleagues.

My career has grown exponentially.

My salary has tripled.

My technical knowledge and training foundation has given me a competitive edge.

This place is widely known as the center of excellence in the industry. Therefore, it will always stand out on my resume like a gold star.

My going away was very organized, nicely decorated, and well represented by executives (they rarely attend anything), members of management, my colleagues, and administrative staff. Even my favorite building cleaning lady was there! LOL The room was full and some even had to stand. It wasn’t until I was about to give my thank you speech when I noticed all the people who have touched my life were ALL right there in the same room. My voice cracked, my words disappeared, and the tears flowed. That moment was truly indicative of what the organization thinks of me and how much they value my professionalism and friendship.

I will leave my house today and drive my normal route…for the last time.

I will pass the same cars today…for the last time.

I will greet the security guard today…for the last time.

I will swipe my badge today…for the last time.

I will enter my office today…for the last time.

I will power up my laptop today…for the last time.

I will interact with my team as I know it today…for the last time.

My same routine for the past 5 1/2 years…for the last time.

Although I look forward to the next phase of my life, I know that I’m leaving an excellent organization with a core group of professionals who are the best in the industry. And just the thought of it…makes me sad. :-(

Peace & Blessings

I feel for you. I left my first post-college company after 4 years in 2005 (dang, it’s been 2 years now!). When I moved to DC from central PA, I didn’t have any non-work friends for the first 2 years. The people I worked with were great, and I still keep in touch with many of them.

However, they’re in VA, I’m in MD and I work in DC, so we don’t cross paths often :(

      Congrats on your next phase!

Ecc. 3:1 says To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…This is your season Ma, run, don’t walk into it!

God is moving you from one degree of excellence into another. I know it’s a bittersweet time for you right now, but know that greater things lie ahead…

Wow, you know it’s awesome when you can leave your company with such positive feelings for it.

((HUGS)) That says a lot about not only the organization but the FABULOUSNESS of you. Here’s to the future – don’t forget to put your shades on Sis!

How are you doing now after your last day?
I hope you had a blessed weekend.
I was sad and yet terribly excited to leave my last job! I missed the people most. Couldn’t wait to get out of that office though!
