Operation Credit Repair, Part I – Meet the Culprit

For your reading pleasure, here’s:

The Intro

The notification from the credit monitoring service showed me a combined report of all three agencies: Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. When doing credit repair, it’s better to get the exact reporting details straight from the horse’s mouth. It helps the integrity of your paper trail for litigation purposes (if necessary). Since the collection account was only reporting on Experian and TransUnion, I pulled a brand new shiny report from the sources and the info on this bad boy was pretty much identical.

Meet the culprit:

RJM ACQ LLC
Address:
575 UNDERHILL BLVD STE 2
SYOSSET, NY 11791
No phone number available
Account Number:
xxx….

Original Creditor:
CROSSINGS BOOK CLUB

WTF!! A book club?? You gotta be kiddin me!! Remember when I told you here that your SS# wasn’t needed to access your credit report – just one or two data points (i.e. name, address, etc.). Here’s proof and a prime example! Didn’t think I’d be the victim to prove it to you though. Ha!

Status: Collection account. $72 past due as of Sep 2006.

Oh Lawd! Assuming this was valid, do you really think I’d ruin my 700+ credit rating over 72 bucks!

Status Details: This account is scheduled to continue on record until Sep 2008.

Date Opened:
11/2005

Type:
Installment

Reported Since:
09/2006

Terms:
1 Months

Date of Status:
08/2006

$0

So I’ve been a member of a book club since Nov ‘05 and just defaulted on my $0 per month “payment plan” in Aug ‘06. Umm, ok.

Last Reported:
09/2006

Responsibility:
Individual

Credit Limit/Original Amount:
$72

High Balance:
NA

Recent Balance:
$72 as of 09/2006

Recent Payment:
$0

Account History:
Collection as of Sep 2006

Shaking my head…

They’re obviously grasping at straws here, but I’ll play along. I know I’m not the only consumer they’re targeting. This kind of thing usually happens in droves. They release the bait to millions just to see who’ll bite (read: pay up). Unfortunately, I aint the one!

Single Ma (informed consumer) vs. RJM ACQ (unsuspecting collection agency)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Already in the works, but what you can expect to read in subsequent “Operation Credit Repair” updates:

1 – initiation of first dispute and results

2 – research of RJM’s nasty footprints on creditboards.com

3 – research of Original Creditor and RJM’s collection license in MD

4 – refreshener of the FCRA and FDCPA

5 – count the FCRA and FDCPA violations

6 – discussion of debt validation and 1-2 punch

7 – record of ALL communication (in writing only) and continued violations

8 – if necessary, draft complaint letters (MD Attorney General, their State Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, etc.)

9 – if necessary, brush up on civil claim procedures and pro se’ preparation, send last resort ITS letter, and/or file in district court

10 – last but not least, the outcome of Operation Credit Repair

If they don’t delete this crap and/or if this adversely affects ANY of my existing credit relationships, I’ll have these mofos paying ME $1,000 for every violation over a $72 erroneous debt. I play with cut throat money makers everyday, so collection agencies are like the 4 yr old bully in the sandbox. Smack that azz back one good time and watch the lil bytch go running. My name should be in their database next to: “Don’t fvck with me!!”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Acronyms I may use from time to time:

CRA = credit reporting agency
EX = Experian
EQ = Equifax
TU = TransUnion
IN = Innovis (4th CRA rarely used)
DV = Debt Validation
CA = Collection Agency
FCRA = Fair Credit Reporting Act
FDCPA = Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
ITS = Intent to Sue

Peace & Blessings
~SM

      I’m your you will bring them to their proverbial knees.

      I’ll make sure to review my January report (I get one every four months, each bureau once a year) very carefully.

      They obviously do not know who they are messing with. I cannot wait for the final outcome.

      I’ve heard the best thing to do is file over the holidays when the credit reporting agencies are short staffed. They have 30 days to respond, and if they are inundated, they’ll just fix things with a minimum of fuss.

    16. Single Ma..., 7 December 2007, 15:59

      @ runawaysage – I am also a single mother who worked and went to graduate school FULL TIME, but I still found time to manage my credit and finances. Please do not use being a single parent as an excuse or a crutch for not doing something properly. Just admit you don’t want to do it.
