Whew Lawd!! Why did I just pay

$36.61 for a full tank of gas!! I wish I could scan my receipt to show you. It’s not like I drive a gas guzzling SUV. I only have a Honda Accord and I use 87.

What in the world is going on? Did I fall asleep last night and wake up on another planet? Geez! I’ve never broken $30 before. Ugh!

Peace & Blessings

I am debating driving to my vacation destination or flying. The current escalation in gas prices is not boding well for gas prices this summer season. It may end up being cheaper to fly than to drive :(

U.S. light crude oil closed at $70.40 today, which is an all time closing high. It hit $70.85 last August during intraday trading, but it eventually went back down. I was listening on NPR this evening, and it seems as if people are worried about all the saber rattling in Iran.

I’m thankful that I take public transportation to and from work. But my church meets at a facility way out in the suburbs. Sigh.

I also filled up today and also passed $30 for the first time. Pretty depressing. Fiance and I are considering carpooling. We think we’ll carpool when gas reaches $3.50. Ugh.

Even with the pain, I guess there’s some good coming out of it…the talk of the town is how am I going to reduce my gas bill…

On a side note, the environmentalist are probably partying it up with big oil execs for the first time ever.

One good benefit for me driving home every weekend is that I get gas for free at my dad’s gas station or for cheaper than DC by stopping in DE.

I am contemplating driving from DC to Cape Cod for a September wedding, but it’s 10 hours one way so I think in terms of time AND money, I’m still better off with flying and renting a car from Logan.

tazzee - with the direction of gas prices, you might want to reconsider that. lol

dave - i’m laughing because i can just hear your british accent thru your post. 40 pounds for my one litre car! LOL isn’t the exchange rate close to 2 bucks?

    cocoa - what is TGFS?

And even though gas prices in Texas are generally less than everywhere else, it’s still insane. I could have sworn I saw somewhere that today oil prices hit $71/barrel. Is that a skyrocket I see? I’ve been looking into hybrids all week and am seriously considering going back to a Honda Accord–the V6 hybrid, to be exact.

I know I am way late on this post, but a friend just emailed me a video file about alternative fuels for cars…. dare we dream! The car in this particular email, runs only on water. I need one of those, considering the fact that we just bought a 15 passenger van with an 8 cylinder engine. I hated to get something that big, but it is sorely needed in our house and we dont really have much of a choice. Oh well, these are the choices we make when we have a house full of kids :) lol, I wouldnt trade them for the world, even when they got me pullin my hair out….
