Financially Fabulous Friends
I’m a firm believer in surrounding yourself with like-minded people. Not only can you relate to each other better, but it keeps you grounded and helps you to stay focused on your goals.
With that said, I want to dedicate this post to one of my closest friends. I don’t think she reads my blog, but I wanted to express my love and respect for her anyway. She’s another one of those versatile sistas. She’s smart, she’s educated, she’s professional, and she’s financially fabulous. Accounting is her profession of choice, her accomplishments to date are impressive, and we’re always bouncing money making ideas off each another. Despite her credentials and extraordinary resume’, my girl is also a DIVA in every sense of the word.
She can smell a clearance rack miles away, her digs are tight, her hair is flawless, and even on a bad day, she still looks fabulous! She’s the sista I call to cry, to rant, to b!tch and complain, but she’s also the sista I can call to laugh, to pray, to be encouraged, and be put in my place when necessary. She has a heart of gold but she won’t hesistate to curse you out if provoked. She doesn’t have any children and she’s afraid of dogs, but as much as she’s around my pad, you couldn’t tell (lol). She’s the sista I roll with because she’s ride or die and I know she got my back.
Matter fact, this is what happened the other day…
SingleMa made an accounting error in the Excel spreadsheet (yea I make money mistakes too lol) and transferred too much money out of the checking account. By the time this was discovered, a previously scheduled online payment was due to post at midnight, resulting in an overdraft of $138. Although SingleMa has overdraft protection (via credit card), this error would have cost $10 for the transfer fee plus a 20.99% cash advance rate applied to the amount needed to cover the overdraft in checking.
Now I’ma tell you the troof (not truth, I’m talkin ’bout the TROOF cuz this shyt here is serious), SingleMa is allergic to spending money on things that doesn’t add to her fabulousness. She’s liable to break out in hives or experience shortness of breath (lol). So she immediately transferred $150 from the ING account to checking. As you all know, this can take up to 2 days to post. So in a panic she turned to her ride or die sista for temporary assistance. And guess what ya’ll? My damn girl had the cash deposited into the checking account within an hour. NOW DATS WASSUP!!!
The chic is bad!! She saved me almost $40 in worthless fees, but what she did for me was priceless. How many of us have friends like this? Better yet, how many of us have friends who will fork over cash in a hot second for us like this? If the roles were reversed, I wouldn’t think twice or hesistate to do the same for her. I love having financially fabulous friends!
Just FYI – she was repaid 2 days later when the ING deposit came through and SingleMa vowed to be more careful with her Excel formulas. ;-)
I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!
Peace & Blessings

there’s nothing like friends! especially friends that you can lean on in financial moment!
I know that’s right! Good friends are so hard to come by, I feel like I’ve won the lottery when I’m blessed with one I can trust and depend on.
First.. THANKS FOR STOPPING BY MY SPOT.. Second.. CONGRATS on getting your home.. I’m in that same process.. and my blog today will reflect some of that.. :) Also.. Like Minded people.. YUP.. we on the same page :)

Angie is my ride or die girl like that…we were step-sisters and our parents broke up been rolling since we were 10…26 years of bonding….
Girl – I can feel you! I am so blessed to say that I have friends who would offer to do what your friend did without me having to ask. Not many of them, but just enough! We’re blessed:)
Congratulations. It is a great feeling knowing that you have a friend as good as she clearly is.
I too am blessed with some great friends, they all have similar interests but what is better is we all have a skill that the other one doesn’t, so we are always learning and doing each other favours.
Top post!
bklyn Girl, what you talking ’bout! Gimme two cords and it’s on and poppin!! LOL BTW, welcome to my spot.
mz 26 deep?…that’s tight!
cocoa I don’t have many either. Just one makes me feel blessed.
dave Yea, having skills that complement one another is important too. My girlfriend and I are very different, but still very much the same. We’re always learning from each other.
I do stuff like that a lot…maybe every other month LOL …must be all that aggressive saving ;) and I HATEHATEHATE spending money on fees and overdraft interest so i hear you.
I’d say my pal Pepper would be my “financial net” if I needed it, but my ride or die girls are scattered all over (but I’m gonna hang with one this week!) those friendships are abs. priceless.
i LOVE the new digs…great new look and that color looks fabulous (of course)
